Ilka is making a thin section of an ice core for crystal studies.

Plane delayed until Sunday. Work continues.

The warm and moist weather continues with periods of fine weather and overcast and snow. There was a possibility this morning for a flight; but due to technical issues with the planes, there were no planes to the ice today. Weather tomorrow is forecasted to become cloudy and warm with snow; but Sunday should be fine. People here take the three day delay in the stride and work continues as usual. We believe that people in Kangerlussuaq are more impatient to come to camp, than people here are to leave. Meanwhile, the processors continue their very efficient work.

The drillers had some issues with the drill that didn’t want to cut properly; but after a tiny adjustment to the drill head, the drill began to produce nice cores again. Tomorrow, we will share an unexpected Saturday evening together.

What we did today:

  1. In drilling a problem with several short runs was solved. Drillers’ depth 1050 m.
  2. Grooming taxiway and apron.
  3. Ice core processing today 35.00 m, bags 1268 - 1327 (696.85 m –729.85 m).
  4. Measurements in isotope laboratory.
  5. Testing Doppler radar.
  6. Measurements in physical properties laboratory.
  7. Water vapour sampling and measuring.
  8. Flight with drone and water vapour sampling pod.
  9. Surface snow sampling.

Weather today: Few periods with overcast and snow showers. Temp. - 7 °C to -12 °C.  Wind: 4 kt to 8 kt from W turning to N.
Visibility: Mostly unrestricted, during snow shower down to 1 km.
