Kiting in the wind

Monday the 4th of July 2016

Homemade kite in the wind

It has been an ongoing project the last week to make a kite to pull a man on a sledge but the wind has not been strong enough (and the kite needed some tuning). Today was the great day where the wind was strong enough for a (little) move with the kite. Christian is the captain.

What have we done today:

  1. Resampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
  2. Dug and sampled from 3-4 m in the Japanize snowpit
  3. Finished the RECAP weatherport (WP2)
  4. Dug a power cable down from WP3 to WP1
  5. Moved all drill boxes from logging tunnel to drill trench
  6. Covered the Japanize snowpit with a plywood roof
  7. Cleaned in the food freezer and made list of food orders for the next flight period
  8. Washed all the sofa covers
  9. Celebrated July 4th with pumpkin cake

Weather today: Overcast and light snowfall all day. Temperature -14 °C last night increasing to -7 °C during the afternoon. Wind 7 kt from NW during night increasing to 15 kt from NW during the day.
