Kiting in the wind
It has been an ongoing project the last week to make a kite to pull a man on a sledge but the wind has not been strong enough (and the kite needed some tuning). Today was the great day where the wind was strong enough for a (little) move with the kite. Christian is the captain.
What have we done today:
- Resampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
- Dug and sampled from 3-4 m in the Japanize snowpit
- Finished the RECAP weatherport (WP2)
- Dug a power cable down from WP3 to WP1
- Moved all drill boxes from logging tunnel to drill trench
- Covered the Japanize snowpit with a plywood roof
- Cleaned in the food freezer and made list of food orders for the next flight period
- Washed all the sofa covers
- Celebrated July 4th with pumpkin cake
Weather today: Overcast and light snowfall all day. Temperature -14 °C last night increasing to -7 °C during the afternoon. Wind 7 kt from NW during night increasing to 15 kt from NW during the day.
