Last day of drilling
To believe that we already have reached the last day of drilling. The first day was 22 May so we have had 85 drill-days this year. The drilling has gone well with problems related to the new drill electronics and too high borehole inclinations. We end the drill season on a good node both in relation to electronics and inclination. Together with the success of the good ice core quality in the brittle zone there is reason to congratulate and enjoy the success of all the drillers and loggers of the 2017 season.
What we did today:
- Deep drilling core length: 9.37 m.
- Drillers depth end of season 2017: 893.18 m.
- Filtering of borehole.
- Borehole logging.
- Closing down Picarros, packing surface program equipment.
- Packing Physical properties equipment.
- Documentation of food in cooks freezer.
- Documenting Science trench.
- Cleaning and documenting logging cabin.
- Packing and documenting shallow drill.
- Updating EGRIP database.
- HAZMAT preparations.
- Attempt to groom apron.
Weather: Overcast with snowfall, wind 8-12 m/s from W, temperatures -12 °C to -6 °C.
