Snow on Garage Floor

 Wednesday 27th of July 2016

Throwing new snow on the garage floor

While Steff and Trevor are reaming the pilot borehole to a larger diameter the main work force of the team have been improving the floors in the mechanic and the carpenters garage. The sun has heated the garages and the floors have become very icy. New snow has been distributed on the floor, the top storage has been supported by beams and plywood will be placed on the floor between the shelves to better support a ladder.

What we have done today:

  1. Reamed the pilot hole
  2. Resampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
  3. Improved the garage floors with new snow
  4. Measured GPS stakes on the north ice stream margin
  5. Linoleum on the kitchen floor

Ad 1: The EGRIP pilot hole was reamed with the 183 mm reamer to a depth of 54 m.

Weather today: Blue sky in the morning becoming overcast with light snow in the evening. Temperatures -18 °C during night, up to -5 °C in the day and down to -14 °C in the evening. Wind 10 kn from SW all day.
