Saturday night group picture
We had a wonderful Saturday night with a very good menu made by Nick, Oliver and Emilie. At midnight the traditional dancing started and the Dome rocked all night. The new tables proved to be strong enough and the party lasted to the early morning.
What we have done today:
- Drilled and logged the EGRIP ice core
- Worked on changing drill configuration
- Resampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
- Set up shelve systems for ice core buffer
- Made plastic curtains to keep the ice core buffer colder
- Cleaned up in Mechanic garage
- Changed water in main water melter
- Had a long generator shut down period
Ad 1: Logging depth: 97.04 m (7 runs (53-59), 9.95 m)
Ad 2: Steff and Trevor continued the work on tuning the drill
Ad 5: The temperature in the ice core box storage room was only -19.5 C. The curtains immediately caused the temperature to drop 1 C and it is still decreasing.
Ad 7: The change of water in the dish washer drained all the water in the main melter. No Saturday night showers.
Ad 8: The generator battery was too weak to restart the generator after maintainance. Sverrir needed to use the Honda generator to restart the generator.
Weather today: Blue sky all day. Temperatures -15 °C during night and evening and up to -5 °C in the day. Wind 5 kn from SW night and evening increasing to 10 kn from SW during the day.
