Monday the 13th of June
The Twin-Otter passed over camp for the last time with Nettles group this morning, and so the camp population is down to 15. Today, the entire skiway, the apron, and the camp area have been groomed by first the beam and then the tiller.
In the drill trench, a milestone was reached as the supporting beams for the drill and winch have now been mounted. The next tasks in the drill trench will be to set up the workshop at the end of the trench, to make a floor, and to dig out the inclined trench for the drill tower.
In the carpenters’ garage, shelves have been put up and a number of boxes have been emptied and their content nicely organized on shelves. Slowly the camp is transforming from a portable to a permanent station.
What we have done today:
- Finalized beam support for drill tower and winch in drill trench
- The Twin-Otter left camp with Nettles group at 9:08L
- Reinstalled casing and tested pressure at Swiss drill test site.
- Complete grooming of skiway, apron, and camp with beam and tiller
- Continued instrumentation installation for the surface processes program
- Re-sampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
- Emptied boxes and organized newly mounted shelves in carpenters garage
Weather today: Sunny in the morning, overcast in the afternoon, and scattered clouds in the evening. Temp. -4 °C to -16 °C. Wind 6 to 12 kt from SW.
